Macmillan Cancer Support is the BPA's Charity Partner

The BPA's corporate charity partner for 2023 continues to be Macmillan Cancer Support.  We are excited to work with Macmillan, which is one of the largest charities in the country, providing specialist healthcare, information and financial support to people affected by cancer. It also researches the social, emotional, and practical impact cancer can have, and campaigns for better cancer care. Macmillan Cancer Support's goal is to reach and improve the lives of everyone living with cancer in the UK.

There are currently 3 million people living with cancer in the UK, many of whom will have experienced gruelling treatments, debilitating side effects, financial struggles and anxiety about the future. This has only been made worse by the pandemic. By supporting Macmillan we ensure they can continue providing emotional, financial and practical support to those who need it most. Please visit our just giving page and support Macmillan today. Every little bit helps, as shown in the below video from Owain Rees of Macmillan.

The money raised from these donations will go to support Macmillan's work across the country, examples of what your donations will go towards supporting are:

  • £14  could provide one session of emotional support to a person living with cancer with a Macmillan Telephone Buddy.
  • £32  could pay for a Macmillan nurse for 1 hour, helping people living with cancer and their families receive essential medical, practical and emotional support.
  • £60  could help run a medium Macmillan benefits advice service for 1 hour.
  • £350 could fund a Macmillan Grant to help with the extra costs that living with cancer can bring. They can be used to buy specialist equipment or to meet other unmet  needs, including paying for hospital travel, extra clothing or to help cover the cost of a much-needed break.

In 2022 the BPA raised funds for Macmillan through individaul donation, a sponsored "walk" to Parkex and by holding a macmillian coffee morning for members at our head office. We also rasied funds at our Members Dinner where an aution of racing memorabillia kindly donated by Jade Edwards our after dinner speaker, the only female British Touring Car Championship racing driver,  which raised more than £1000 for the BPA's corporate charity Macmillan Cancer Support. This ran alongside a silent aution for the charity which took the total raised on the night to almost £8000.
