What is the Transport Technology Forum?

The Transport Technology Forum (TTF) receives funding from the Department for Transport and InnovateUK to help achieve change and technological innovation with collaborating organisations.

It encourages the adoption of new ways of thinking and innovative technical solutions for the improvement of traffic flow through better network operation and management. This in turn will deliver significant economic, social and business benefits to the UK. It also aims to ensure its stakeholders gain and maintain a fair share of voice with policy-makers. It's remit includes, but is not limited to:

  • Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), including Connected ITS (C-ITS);
  • Automotive
  • Smart Mobility and Mobility as a Service (MaaS)
  • Smart cities and communities
  • Logistics, and
  • ICT and related developments including Cloud computing and Big Data.

What is the Smarter Parking Group?

The Smarter Parking Group is led by Graham Hanson Head of Smarter Traffic Management DfT, chaired by Sarah Randall from Agena and run by the BPA. This is a bi-monthly zoom meeting from 9:30-11:00, see dates below.

What are the benefits?

The Group gives local authorities and technology suppliers the opportunity to share the latest innovations and best practices. It also gives BPA members a chance to interact with the TTF and plan for future legislation. The main agenda items cover the Digitisation of TROS, APDS, and the National Parking platform. The Smarter Parking Group is also directly responsible for The Manual for Smart Streets guidance for local authorities and has over 200 active members.
